Happiness: The Mythical Creature We All Seek

Happiness is like a mythical creature that we all seek but never seem to find. It's like trying to apprehend a unicorn, except instead of it’s horn, it's an emotion. However, contrary to popular belief, happiness is not a destination, it's a journey. And like any journey, you can choose to make it a fun-filled adventure or a miserable trek through a swamp.

In this blog, we will discuss why happiness is a choice and how you can cultivate it in your life.

Happiness is not something that happens to us, it's something we choose. We have the power to control our thoughts, reactions, and cultivate happiness in our lives. So, let's dive in and explore why happiness is a choice.

Reason #1: The Power of Our Thoughts

Our minds are like a battleground, and it's up to us to choose which side we want to fight on. If we focus on the negative, it's like we're putting on a helmet and jumping straight into the line of fire. But if we choose to focus on the good, Happiness is a Choice FBit's like we're putting on a suit of armour and shielding ourselves from the negative arrows that life shoots at us.

The power of our thoughts cannot be understated. We are what we think, and our thoughts shape our reality. Negative thoughts lead to negative emotions, while positive thoughts lead to positive emotions. So, it's important to choose our thoughts wisely. If we want to be happy, we need to focus on the good and let go of the negative. We need to choose positivity and gratitude over negativity and complaint.

Next time you're feeling down, remember that you have the power to choose which side of the battlefield you want to be on. Choose positivity, and watch your happiness grow.

Reason #2: We Can Control Our Reactions

Life is full of obstacles, we’ve all been in that situation but it's up to us to decide whether we want to let those obstacles defeat us or use them as stepping stones to reach our goals. We can control our reactions to life's challenges. It's like being a Ninja, but instead of fighting off enemies, we're fighting off negative emotions.

When faced with adversity, we have a choice. We can either let it defeat us, or we can use it to fuel our growth. We can choose to be resilient and persevere through tough times. We can choose to be strong and face our fears head-on. We can choose to be optimistic and find the silver lining in every situation.

Next time life throws you a curveball, instead of fighting it, remember you have the power to use your Ninja skills to dodge it and come out on top. Choose to be resilient, and watch your happiness grow.

Reason #3: We Can Cultivate Happiness Like a Garden

Happiness is not something that happens to us. It's something we cultivate in our lives. It's like being a farmer, but instead of growing crops, we're growing happiness. Happiness is the seed we can plant, water, and nurture until it grows into a beautiful flower.

There are many ways we can cultivate happiness in our lives. We can keep a gratitude journal and write down three things we're grateful for every day. We can spend time with loved ones and build meaningful relationships. We can engage in activities that bring us joy, like reading, hiking, or dancing.

Next time you're feeling down, remember that you have the power to be a happiness farmer and grow your own garden of joy. Choose to cultivate happiness, and watch it grow.

Humour and Sarcasm: Our Superhero Costume

Now, I know what you're thinking, "Happiness is not always easy to come by." And you're right, it's not. But that's why we have things like humour and sarcasm to help us cope. It's like a superhero costume that we can put on when we need to fight off negative emotions.

For example, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade, and then add some vodka. Or when everything seems to be going wrong, just remember that at least you're not a penguin trying to fly. I bet you are smiling now. See, doesn't that feel better already?

When we use humour and sarcasm, we are essentially putting on a superhero costume. We become stronger and more resilient, and we can fight off negative emotions and thoughts. Humour and sarcasm can be used in a variety of situations, whether we're dealing with a difficult boss, a breakup, or just a bad day.

If you're having a bad day, you could make a joke about how you're pretty sure the universe is conspiring against you. It might not change the situation, but it can help you feel better and regain some control over the situation.

Using humour and sarcasm can also help us connect with others. When we use these tools, we show others that we don't take ourselves too seriously and that we're not afraid to be vulnerable. This in turn can help us cultivate stronger relationships with others and can lead to a more fulfilling life.

Of course, it's important to remember that humour and sarcasm should be used in moderation.

While they can be helpful in certain situations, it's important to be mindful of others' feelings and to avoid using them as a way to deflect or dismiss serious issues.

Additionally, we should be careful not to use humour and sarcasm as a way to avoid dealing with our emotions. It's important to acknowledge and process our feelings, even if we do it with a bit of humour. My youngest chooses to converse like this all the time. There is never a dull moment in my day but not everyone can handle humour, sarcasm or the funny aspect of it!

To conclude, HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE. It's not a DESTINATION, it's a JOURNEY that we can choose to embark on every day. We have the POWER to CONTROL our THOUGHTS, REACTIONS, and CULTIVATE happiness in our lives. And when things get tough, we have humour and sarcasm to help us cope.

So, my friends, choose to be happy today and every day, and remember to always wear your superhero costume when you need it.

And as your Happiness Coach, I can help you get through the rollercoaster crap that life throws at you to find a little joy every single day!
