And what your body actually needs to finally feel safe again
Let me tell you a universal truth that every woman I work with eventually discovers:
You cannot OUT-THINK STRESS.
You cannot OUT-LOGIC OVERWHELM.
You cannot MINDSET your way out of a DYSREGULATED NERVOUS SYSTEM.
You cannot LOGIC YOUR WAY OUT OF FIGHT-OR-FLIGHT
If you could “just relax”…
If you could “just stop worrying”…
If you could “just calm down”…
YOU WOULD HAVE DONE IT BY NOW.
But you didn’t.
Instead, here you are:
- jaw tight,
- mind racing,
- shoulders tense,
- body buzzing,
- breath shallow,
- sleep disturbed,
- and your brain telling you, “Just relax.”
If only it were that simple.
If ONLY.

You didn’t fail because stress doesn’t live in your mind.
It lives in your body.
Your nervous system decides the state you’re in long before your brain catches up.
And THAT, is why you keep trying to think your way out of a problem that isn’t coming from your thinking brain.
So today, we’re going deeper.
Into your BODY.
Into your ENERGY.
Into the real reason you feel like you’re carrying a 200-pound invisible weight and what actually helps you shift it.
1. Stress Isn’t a Thought, It’s a Physical Reaction
Let’s start here because this is the part everyone gets wrong.
STRESS BEGINS WITH SENSATIONS, NOT THOUGHTS.
- Tight chest.
- Knotted stomach.
- Clenched jaw.
- Shallow breathing.
- Tension in your neck.
- A buzzing in your head.
- A feeling of “I need to do something NOW.”
These sensations appear before your mind even forms a sentence about what’s happening.
Your body REACTS.
Your brain RATIONALISES after.
So telling yourself:
- “Calm down,”
- “Stop overthinking,”
- “Just be positive,”
- “Think logically,”
is like shouting instructions at a smoke alarm while a fire spreads in the kitchen.
Your body needs help, not your brain.
2. Stress Locks You Into Survival Mode, Not Logic Mode
Here’s a fun fact:
When your nervous system senses threat, your “thinking brain” goes offline.
- Gone.
- Silenced.
- Unavailable.
- Like WiFi during a storm.
So if you’ve ever:
- Had an emotional meltdown
- Snapped over something tiny
- Couldn’t focus
- Made silly mistakes
- Forgot things you normally remember
- Spiraled in your thoughts
- Froze
- Shut down
- Or felt nothing at all
It wasn’t because you “weren’t trying hard enough.”
It’s because your body was doing everything it could to keep you alive.
- Not calm.
- Not productive.
- Not polite.
- ALIVE
This is BIOLOGY.
This is EVOLUTION.
This is how humans SURVIVE.
So please, STOP being hard on yourself.
Your body is doing exactly what it was designed to do.
3. Your Body Holds Your History, Not Your Brain
- Childhood patterns.
- Old emotional wounds.
- Family conditioning.
- School pressures.
- Cultural expectations.
- Relationship trauma.
- Work stress.
- Responsibility overload.
Your body stores ALL of it.
Every emotion you swallowed.
Every tear you didn’t cry.
Every time you “held it together.”
Every situation you powered through.
Every bit of pressure you told yourself was “fine.”
Your body remembers.
Not because it likes suffering, but because it loves you and it’s trying to keep you safe.
But over time, All that holding becomes too much.
And it shows up as:
- Tension
- Overwhelm
- Burnout
- Shutdown
- Anxiety
- Overthinking
- Chronic fatigue
- Irritability
- Emotional numbness
- Panic
- Insomnia
This isn’t weakness.
This is a full body that’s been carrying too much for too long.
4. And Then There’s the Silent Killer: Stress
Since returning to London these past months, I’ve noticed something heart-breaking:
Too many young people are dying from stress.
Healthy men and women in their 20s, 30s, early 40s.
In the PRIME of their lives.
Just last week, my mum told me about a young man in his mid-30s. She knew the family and went to the funeral. It's never easy.
He:
Went to work.
Came home.
Went to bed.
Didn’t wake up.
Stress - The silent killer.
Pressure from work.
Pressure to perform.
Pressure to stay strong.
Pressure to not disappoint.
Pressure to keep going.
Let me tell you something that might sting a bit, but it’s the truth:
You are replaceable at work.
You are NOT replaceable at home.
Your family and friends the people who keep begging you to:
Slow down,
Rest,
Breathe,
Take care of yourself,
Stop overworking.
THEY are the ones who feel your absence.
NOT your employer.
Your company will post a vacancy within days.
Your loved ones will carry the grief forever.
Stress is not something to “cope with.”
It’s something to HEAL.
5. Thinking Doesn’t Heal Stress. Energy Reset Does.
Here’s something I haven’t shared in this level of honesty before:
When I tell you that you can’t think your way out of stress, it’s because I tried.
And I FAILED!
Spectacularly.
These past months, moving countries, restarting life at 50-something, letting go of ¾ of my belongings (purging is therapeutic, yes, but not like this), trying to build a business from scratch again, and then my son deciding last-minute he was moving with me, it pushed my system into a level of overwhelm I didn’t even know was possible.
I was in full survival mode.
Not the “I’m fine, just busy” kind of stress.
The kind where:
I woke up exhausted
I couldn’t find a rhythm or routine
My brain felt foggy all day
Nothing inspired me
I cancelled coffee with my friends (and I NEVER cancel coffee)
My mum looked at me with worry in her eyes
My closest friends said, “You're not yourself…”
I wanted to sleep more than I wanted to live my life
I sunk so deep into myself that I couldn't climb back out
And here’s the thing:
I knew what was happening.
I could explain stress.
I could teach stress.
I could write about stress.
I could psychoanalyse stress.
But I could NOT think my way out of my own.

Because what I was dealing with wasn’t a mindset problem.
- It was a body problem.
- A nervous system problem.
- An energetic overload problem.
My body had carried too much
- too fast,
- too intensely,
- too silently.
And it SHUT DOWN.
It wasn’t until I went back to the very tools I teach:
- the grounding,
- the muscle testing,
- the somatic resets,
- the emotional release work,
- the gentle energetic unwinding
that I slowly came back to myself.
Energetic Body Intelligence (EBI) didn’t fix my life.
It helped me feel safe enough to live it again.
EBI was what kept me from emotionally imploding.
It was what helped me stop spiralling.
It was what helped me hear what my body actually needed: rest, stillness, hydration, boundaries, gentleness, a slower pace and permission to do nothing while I recalibrated.
EBI gave me a way to check in with myself when I felt lost.
A way to ask my body:
“What do you need right now?”
And actually receive an answer.
Slowly, slowly, my energy thawed.
My nervous system softened.
My inner spark started flickering again.
And I started feeling like me.
Not because I forced myself to be productive.
Not because I “thought positive.”
Not because I pushed through.
But because I listened to my BODY, really LISTENED, and it guided me back to myself.
That’s the piece I want you to hear.
Your body isn’t trying to sabotage you.
It’s trying to protect you.
You just need to speak its language.
And sometimes that language is BREATH.
Sometimes it’s GROUNDING.
Sometimes it’s asking your body for a YES/NO answer.
Sometimes it’s lying in bed and letting yourself do NOTHING.
Sometimes it’s CRYING.
Sometimes it’s RELEASING a frequency that’s been stuck for years.
Sometimes it’s admitting you’re OVERWHELMED.
Sometimes it’s letting energy MOVE instead of trapping it.
Thinking doesn’t heal stress.
Logic doesn’t heal overwhelm.
Your mind cannot regulate what your body is dysregulated by.
Your body needs a RESET.
A softening.
A moment of safety.
A way to release what it’s been holding.
And that’s what EBI gave me when I was drowning.
Not a strategy.
Not a mindset shift.
A lifeline.
6. Try This 90-Second EBI Reset Right Now
Put your phone down for a moment.
Hand on heart.
Hand on belly.

Now breathe with me.
- Inhale gently for 4 counts.
- Exhale for 8 counts.
- Let your shoulders drop.
- Whisper: “I’m here. I’m safe.”
- Ask your body: “What do you need today?”
Don’t THINK.
Just LISTEN.
Your body ALWAYS answers.
You just need the tools to hear it.
7. You Can't Think Your Way Out of Stress Because Stress Was Never a Thought
Stress is body.
Stress is energy.
Stress is survival.
You unlock freedom not through thinking harder but by soothing, resetting, and realigning your body.
Once your energy shifts, your mind follows.
Safety first.
Clarity second.
This is the magic of EBI.
