Why we ignore the signals
Because we’re clever, capable humans armed with caffeine, willpower, and the British art of “I’m fine.” even when we’re falling apart.
We push through deadlines, school runs, heartbreak, and housework, convincing ourselves that rest is for the weak and emotions are inconvenient.
But your body isn’t trying to your progress, it’s trying to protect you.
Every ache, sigh, or sudden tear is your body’s way of saying:
“Something’s off. Can we please sort this before I pull the emergency brake?”
Your body never lies
Your mind can talk you out of anything.
- “Just one MORE episode.”
- “I’ll REST at the weenend.”
- “I’m not ANGRY, just FRUSTRATED.”
Your body doesn’t play that game, it tells the truth through sensations.
- A tight chest often means grief or sadness you haven’t fully felt.
- Tense shoulders carry the weight of responsibility (and everyone else’s expectations).
- Butterflies in your stomach can mean excitement or fear, same chemistry, different story.
Your body is basically your personal translator, it just speaks in physical language.
When you learn to understand it, everything changes.
It’s basically Google Translate for your emotions. You just need to learn the language.
When you finally listen
Listening doesn’t mean hours of chanting or becoming a monk
.
It can be as simple as:
- Pausing before saying “yes” to check if your gut’s clenching.
- Stretching when your body whispers “move.”
- Drinking water instead of ignoring that desert-dry throat.
- Little acts of awareness tell your body, “Hey, I hear you.”
Once it knows you’re listening, it doesn’t need to shout anymore.
A client story
One of my clients came to me running on fumes. She’d done all the “right” things: yoga, vitamins, early nights, yet still felt empty.
Through Energetic Body Intelligence (EBI) and gentle muscle testing, her body revealed what she hadn’t said aloud: grief from years ago, sitting heavy in her chest.

You stop living from your head and start living from your whole self.

“Body, what do you need right now?”
