Let me tell you, there's a world of difference between being LONELY and being ALONE. Loneliness is like having an insatiable hunger deep inside your soul, an ache that no number of distractions or company can satisfy. It's that feeling of being lost in a sea of people, yearning for a CONNECTION that seems forever out of reach. But being alone, now that's an entirely different story. It's about embracing solitude as an opportunity for self-discovery, growth, and unapologetic self-indulgence.
You see, loneliness is a state of mind. It's when you let those negative thoughts and self-doubts creep into your COUNCIOUSNESS, making you believe that you're unworthy of love and companionship. But aloneness, well, that's a state of being. It's a conscious choice to spend time with yourself, to revel in your own company without seeking validation from others.
The next time that wretched loneliness comes knocking at your door, instead of succumbing to its suffocating embrace, put on your sassiest attitude and ask yourself, "What can I do to truly care for myself?" Maybe it's treating yourself to a delectable meal, drawing a luxurious bubble bath, or simply curling up with a book that nourishes your soul. Whatever it is, make sure it's an act of self-love, because you deserve nothing less.
The memories of my twenties! I, too, was once trapped in the DELUSION that life should mirror the sweetness of Bollywood and Hollywood romances. I CRAVED that grand love story, filled with laughter, fun, and endless happiness. But oh, how lonely I was in my pursuit of such FANTASIES! I detested my own company because I hadn't yet learned to love myself, to appreciate the delightful fabulous woman that I am. Back then, I was CLUELESS about how to help myself. I STUMBLED through life, seeking solace in parties and drowning my EMOTIONS with copious amounts of alcohol. It was my feeble attempt to NUMB THE PAIN, to ESCAPE the REALITY of my own DISSATISFACTION. I hopped from one career to another, desperately searching for something that would fill that gaping VOID within me. But nothing external could ever heal the wounds that resided deep within my soul.
It took TIME, EXPERIENCE, and a whole lot of SELF-REFLECTION for me to understand that there was more to my loneliness than met the eye. Beneath the surface, there were unresolved TRAUMAS and battles that needed to be fought. It was a time when mental health was a taboo word, whispered only in hushed tones, but oh, how grateful I am that times have changed! Nowadays, I am surrounded by a support system that embraces and nurtures my well-being.
If there's one sassy piece of advice I could impart upon my YOUNGER SELF, or anyone who finds themselves in a similar predicament, it would be this:LEARN TO LOVE YOURSELF. Seek help when you need it, without FEAR, GUILT, or SHAME. If sadness consumes you, don't hesitate to reach out to a doctor or counselor who can provide the guidance and support you deserve. Fear may have held me back in my younger days, worried about the opinions of others, but let me tell you, the only opinion that truly matters is your own.
So, toss aside those notions of what others might think, and focus on your own well-being. EMBRACE the BEAUTY of being alone, relish in your own company, and SAVOUR the moments of solitude. Treat yourself with the same KINDNESS, COMPASSION, and UNDERSTANDING that you would shower upon a cherished friend. Remember, "You cannot be lonely if you genuinely like the person you're alone with". So, love yourself fiercely, dance to your own rhythm, and let your sassiness shine like the radiant star that you are!
